Get involved
Free, open source,
and built in the open.
Canopy is a project rather than a product. There’s no boardroom and no roadmap handed down from one. If any of this is something you’d like to see exist, there are a few ways to help — writing code, running a node, or pointing someone towards it.
Support
Fund or setup a relay
The Canopy mesh sometimes needs to use relay servers to access some home servers. These cost money to host, but they're not expensive and just forward requests.
Build
Read the code
The OS config, the Rust daemon and the GUI all live in the open. Read it, audit it, fork it, file an issue, or send a patch.
Codeberg →Run
Run your own
Set up Canopy on a machine at home and host your own media and apps. The how-it’s-built page walks through the stack it runs on.
How it’s built →Supported by
Canopy is grateful for funding and support from public-interest foundations that back software built for people, not platforms.
